Art Journal Challenge #6: Painted & Scraped

As we’ve discussed before, most art journalers start with their backgrounds and usually this involves using paint. It can be brushed on or scraped on, it can be thick or thin, lumpy or smooth. We can create similar looks digitally with the use of brushes and styles.

The standard brushes included with photoshop include all sorts of different paint brushes designed to mimic, play with the settings to change size, direction and other properties to get the look you want.
You can use styles – try playing with embossing – to help you achieve the look of ‚thick’ paint or use blending to allow you canvas textures to show through ‚thin’ paint.

If you have any questions or tips share them here.
